What can I edit?
Anything! The Wilderness Wiki is a collaborative resource created by its users. This means that anyone can edit the articles of the wiki, and we encourage you to do so. Just click the 'edit' tab at the top of an article. To create a new article, type its title into the search box, press "Go", then click "create this page".
The Wilderness Wiki has received permission to reprint certain articles written by experts. These articles are the property of the credited authors and are locked to protect the authors' original work.
How do I use special formatting?
For information on formatting a page with headlines, bold, italics, thumbnail images, and more, please see our easy-to-use cheatsheet.
What type of files can I upload?
Currently you can upload, .png, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf, .wav, .mp3, .ogg, .wma, and .aac files. If you have a file that's not supported, please tell me.
Where can I get free images for public use?
http://www.wikihow.com/Special:ImportFreeImages
How do I talk to another user?
Each user has a talk page, which can be found at User Talk:ExampleUser. Go to this page, click edit, and add your message. The user will be automatically notified.
Can I add a video?
Because it would add a lot of strain on the server, videos can't be directly uploaded. If you have a video on a site like youtube, metacafe, or revver, however, you can embed it in an article.
For youtube videos, just use the code below, replacing 'id' with the letter number combination after the '=' sign on your video's youtube page.
{{#ev:youtube|id}}
For videos hosted elsewhere, get the .swf URL, which can be found by clicking the video's 'embed' button, and copy it into the following code:
<gflash>480 345 http://www.example-website.com/videos/Your_video.swf</gflash>
