Slinging is the act of hurling a projectile with a sling - two cords connected to a pouch, which holds the projectile. The sling acts as an extension of the user's arm, therefor allowing greater throwing power. The sling is one of the oldest weapons. It is unknown when it was invented, but it was a popular ranged weapon until the advent of the bow. Today, slinging is practiced among a small following, mainly as a hobby. In Mexico, Slings are the favoured weapon used by shepards, present day and past. These Shepards use their slings for their usual everyday live which differs greatly from City life as most of us know. They are greatly known amongst serious slingers to be the most accurate and talented slingers in the world.

There are numerous styles of slinging, derived from various cultures and innovative modern slingers alike. This video demonstrates many of the popular slinging styles. For more information, head over to www.slinging.org
